Interesting Fact: How Many Smartphones in the World?
Not so long ago, an interesting report appeared on the Web that showed us how many people in the world use Internet access. In addition, we found out how many people use social networks, how many of them do it from a smartphone, and some other data.
It would seem that they use and let them continue to use, but such statistics are not only curious in themselves, but also give us an understanding of where communication systems are moving in general, how they will affect our future and how interested structures (for example, advertisers) will be able to get access to our most secret.
How many smartphones in the world? Internet usage statistics
The report gave us insight that as of January 2021, the number of smartphone users worldwide was 5.22 billion, the number of Internet users was 4.66 billion, and the number of social media users was 4.2 billion.
How many people live on earth?
It is worth noting that as of January 2021, the world population is 7.83 billion people. According to a UN report, this number is currently increasing at a rate of 1% per year. This means that since the beginning of 2020, the total world population has increased by more than 80 million people.
It also provides visual demonstration of research results.
How many people use smartphones?
Since January 2020, the number of smartphone users has increased by 1.8% (93 million). There are already more smartphones in the world than people. 8.02 billion active devices have been sold. This is due to the fact that some users own two or more smartphones.
How many people use the Internet?
In January 2021, the number of people using the Internet worldwide increased by 316 million (7.3%) compared to the same period last year. Currently, 59.5% of the world's inhabitants are Internet users in the world. The outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic had a significant impact on the number of users.
How many people use social networks?
As for social media users, the picture becomes even more interesting. There are currently 4.2 billion users worldwide. This number has increased by 490 million (13%) in the last 12 months. The number of social network users is currently more than 53% of the world's population. The pandemic has also contributed to this. Interestingly, about 80% of Internet users use social networks.
The Internet is becoming more and more popular
If you look at exactly how many new users appeared on social networks, then this number for the year amounted to 1.3 million people. Do not confuse this number with how much the total number of social media users has increased. Someone stopped using it, but more new users came.
It only remains to add that 1.3 billion new users mean approximately 150,000 new users per hour.
The average social media user spends 2 hours and 25 minutes every day. In total, users are expected to devote 3.7 trillion hours to this leisure activity.
Filipinos are still the largest consumers of social media in the world. They spend them an average of 4 hours 15 minutes a day. This is half an hour more than the second-placed Colombians.
Japanese users, by contrast, spend less than an hour a day on social media. It is currently 51 minutes. But this figure increased by 13% compared to last year.
How many smartphones in the world?
App Annie data shows that Android users around the world use their phones for more than 4 hours a day. At the same time, it is noted that now users spend more time with smartphones than with TVs. On average, a smartphone takes 7% more time from a user than a TV.
In total, we use the Internet for about 7 hours a day (on all devices). That is, we spend about 2 days on the Web a week. We sleep the same amount and spend only three days on everything else. That is, we spend about 45 percent of our active life on the Internet.
As in the previous example, Filipinos spend the most on the Internet - almost 11 hours a day. Interestingly, in China, too, not so much people spend on the Web - only 5 hours 22 minutes a day (1.5 hours less than the world average). Maybe that's why Japan and China are developing so fast?
Is anyone using voice search?
Approximately 98% of users use search engines every month. But this is not interesting, but the fact that about 70% of users said that they began to choose other search methods. So, 45% of global Internet users said they used voice search or voice commands in the last 30 days.
Approximately 45% of those surveyed said that during the last month they turned to social networks in order to study what they want to buy and form their opinion about it.
Why do people use smartphones so much?
It is interesting that people prefer smartphones when visiting Internet pages. About 60% of visits were from smartphones, and this number is growing. This is largely due to the fact that sites are increasingly being optimized for small screens and using a computer is no longer so important.
The growth is achieved at the expense of developing countries, in which smartphones are distributed more and more. Everyone needs communication in them, but there is no money for a computer, let alone the Internet. As a result, they use their smartphones both for calls and for browsing the Internet.
We will continue to see the growth of content consumption, and smartphones will continue to develop and spread. For this, again, developing countries should be thanked, the development of networks and the reduction in the cost of smartphones themselves.
